What do you do when you are over 75?

"

We have just finished a fantastic week with Serendipity. Since we have three active teenage boys we wanted something other than a hum-drum vacation. We got a super week together with Serendipity. When I saw the high level of action involved, I had three concerns about the trip.

Was Serendipity a respectable company? I found it to be of the highest quality - with excellent support personnel, top quality equipment, and unquestionable quality.

Would we be safe? Our Serendipity guide Juan Carlos (JC) made the entire trip an adventure. He was our interpreter, navigator, encourager, an expert historian, biologist and botanist. He made sure we were safe at all times. You could tell that he was intent on giving us every opportunity without exposing us to any undue risk. At every activity, Serendipity provided wonderful support guides to make sure we were safe.

Skippy and Fred at the base of Abraham, our giant ceiba tree in the primary forest

Fred and Skippy, aged 80 and 75 years, stand at the base of Abraham, just prior to ascending 110 feet to the canopy platform.

Our friends Fred and Skippy Dinkler put themselves in our hands.
Fred is 80, Skippy 75.

We at Serendipity wish all of our guests would decide to enjoy life as much as Fred and Skippy.

We hope everyone who contacts Serendipity had the open-mindedness to try new adventures.

Fred was lowered by the mechanical winch, but Skippy decided to rappel down.

We speak with many people who doubt they have the strength or stamina to join a Serendipity adventure.

Thankfully, Fred and Skippy trusted us.

Yes, they went to the cloud forest, bathed in hot springs, floated on nature rivers.

But they also rode horseback. And saw things they could never have seen from ground level), ascended (then descended) our naturalist platform, and then, because we promised the water would be warm, they shot the rapids with Serendipity — their first ever white water experience.

It's a long way down from the platform in Abraham, but a back up belay ensures that you will never go too fast.

Now their grandchildren have to listen to all the stories of Their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Costa Rica.

So, when you ask us How Hard Is It? we send you to this page.

Fred and Skippy decided to brave the rapids in duckies. Each of them had their own boat shared with an expert river guide so they could shoot the rapids with confidence.

And when you talk about your group made up of three or four generations, we always ask — would the Senior part of your trip be open to new challenges?

You'd be surprised at how many of the children and grandchildren would say "No", and how many of the grandparents say "Certainly!"

The first step to enjoying a Serendipity adventure is to contact us.
