Active family vacation
If you want horses, nature, jungle,white water, volcanoes and rivers, then check out our 8 day eclectic adventure.
This Costa Rica adventure itinerary was designed for a family of five: 2 adults, sons ages 17 and 13, and a daughter age 12. The parents are very active, and they want their younger children to get a lot of physical challenges as well as to meet real Costa Ricans, not just hotel staff and tourist people. They want activities that all five can enjoy together, and the kids will never have to forego things the older son will enjoy -- and the older son doesn't want his vacation reduced to his sibling's abilities. Wow! We did it! We got a 10 out of 10 from all three kids and parents!
The Cabecar Trail - hiking, biking, rafting
Use your own legs, lungs and inner strength — mountain biking, hiking, rafting and — away from tourists in pristine wilderness - no electricity, no roads the 4-day Cabecar Trail.
The Cabecar Indians are extremely isolated, wishing very little to do with the white man. Our trail is cut through jungle connecting their isolated communities and the top end of the Pacuare River. We do not attempt to contact any of the Indigenous, but frequently encounter isolated individuals while hiking. Most Cabecars do not speak any language except Cabecar, similar to African bushmen tongue click.

Mountain biking with a destination -- the ocean. The Tropical Mountain Biking tour crosses diverse terrain, starting from the Central Valley and ending at the Pacific Coast. We have three different routes incorporating different ecosystems and for different levels of biking skills; one is described in our sample private full-on mountain bike itinerary.
This is supreme mountain bike adventure. We operate only as a private departure - you pick your biking buddies carefully, because the route is rugged. This is NOT a fixed departure trip — it is a route for exceptional biking, designed for bike experts and people who like to be exhausted and sore every day.

Fixed departure vacations - join a group
Serendipity's group departure vacations are limited to six adventurous souls in each group. This is a great way for individuals or couples to experience Costa Rica and Serendipity's hospitality. The trips can also be operated privately on dates you choose for groups of four or more, and many people use these itineraries as a basis for a private vacation with Serendipity.
We have all the stuff of adventure — rafts and ropes, mountain bikes and horses and naturalist float boats and balloons, private forests and private places to explore, away from the buses and tourist routes.
