Your Serendipity guide will push everyone to try new things - from adventures to food, from learning a bit about a new language to become comfortable on a horse.Your private (bespoke) Serendipity family tour is all about sharing, and discovery... not possible when you are on tour buses. Your reliable (and comfortable) 4x4 vehicle, interesting lodging, and completely private activities make the difference. With private adventures you determine the length and ruggedness of each adventure.

COSTS: Serendipity Style includes all hotels, full time Serendipity leader and 4x4 vehicle, and a broad selection of private adventures each day. Prices for seven day/six night itineraries for a family of four start at $2300 per person (when you spend a bit of time "on your own" at the beach), and average $2950 per person during non-peak seasons. Our average custom trip for 7 days/six nights is $3350 per person (for four or five people sharing two rooms), includes full flexibility for meals and food, more activities, more flexibility. Using high end hotels and/or travel during peak seasons will increase costs for an identical itinerary to over $4400. We do have ways to reduce costs, but only with compromises on service, hotels, or meal plans. We can reduce costs when you convince friends to come travel Serendipity Style with you - we've led family reunions with 26 people, traveling in five 4x4 vehicles. Serendipity will not combine your family vacation with any other guests.

Care to compare costs?

These are other reputable travel companies offering tours in Costa Rica of varying lengths, with varying activities and included items (meals, guides, etc.). All have good reputations in Costa Rica and the United States, with adequate infrastructure to assure their tour groups operate with minimal problems.

ACCOMMODATIONS: While we have inspected and rated over 200 hotels in Costa Rica, Serendipity has about 30 favorites ranging from the south Pacific to Arenal to the north and south Caribbean. For families we prefer places where the kids can move about freely, where they are welcome, but not where they are pushed into a "children's section" out of the way from adults. Some of the best time on a Serendipity trip is sharing stories at the dinner table, while driving backroads to the next adventure, when playing Tarzan in a jungle brook or having dinner at a cowboy cantina. Serendipity standards for hotels is security, quiet and comfortable, supremely clean, good bedding, and warm yet professional service.
