Adrenaline Adventure Itinerary in Costa Rica
Day 1: Arrive in Costa Rica
Welcome to our Costa Rica! Meet your private transfer service, rental car, or Serendipity guide at the San José airport. You’ll spend your first night in the capital city, to rest up and get ready for your adventures tomorrow.
Day 2: Whitewater Rafting Expedition
Today, you will travel to Turrialba for the first day of an overnight river expedition. The first part of the Pacuare adventure is class II and III, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy the river to the fullest by playing and swimming, and also enjoy the surrounding forest. On arrival to your riverside lodging, you will explore the surrounding indigenous territory on foot. This evening, the Serendipity crew will cook for you at our beautiful spot at the river’s edge.
Day 3: Ziplining & Rafting to Siquirres
After breakfast, head to the treetops for a ziplining adrenaline adventure through the rainforest canopy. Then, continue your rafting expedition along the magnificent Pacuare River — 18 miles of roaring Class IV whitewater. Named by National Geographic as one of the 10 most beautiful rivers of the world, the Pacuare with Serendipity brings you to life — teamwork, adrenaline, and a thrilling experience to share with your own select team of friends or family. Serendipity approaches white water differently from day-trip tour companies – it is a team, not a tour. You’ll remember your guides, you’ll remember the lunch, and you’ll remember the thrill of taking on the amazing challenge.
Day 4: Costa Rica Canyoning
Jungle canyoning is a great way to get your energy going — going down waterfalls attached to ropes, trusting your Serendipity guides, your traveling companions, your harness, and your own adventurous spirit. We’ll move from small to bigger to the biggest. And you’ll appreciate the hot chocolate or hot soup to rejuvenate your shaking hands.
Day 5: Mountain Biking Paradise
Turrialba holds some of the best mountain bike trails you can find. No wonder one of the 13 toughest races in the world takes place right here. You will pass through sugar cane fields and crystal clear rivers, and from time to time remember to look up, there will be colorful toucans perching on the tree branches. With the 4×4 following us, we can hop aboard to avoid boring stretches, then ride again once we find an interesting off-road section.
Day 6: Costa Rica Rainforest or Volcano Hiking
We’ll let you decide where you’d like to explore with your guide today. Choose from a hike around the active Turrialba Volcano to discover the unique burnt forest, lava trails, and canyons that surround the crater. Or, head to a nearby rainforest reserve to discover natural river pools, waterfalls, and forests. These trails range from low intensity to high level, with routes of half an hour or up to 8 hours or more, depending on what you is looking for.
Day 7: Departure from San José
Today, sadly, you depart, but you will definitely take with you some great memories and new experiences as well, and probably a few Serendipity bumps and bruises. Want to stay longer? Speak with one of our Travel Specialists to add some days to this itinerary. We recommend exploring the stunning beaches on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica.
