Costa Rica Vacation Costs: 10 day Eclectic Voyager SAMPLE itinerary

Costa Rica family travel with children with Serendipity provides freedom to explore nature and country life

Costa Rica travel with Serendipity often means one guest, one guide, doing fun things not possible in large group activities. The privacy of Serendipity travel, the quality of our guides and equipment, make a Serendipity trip well worth the cost.

National Geographic Adventure Magazine selected Serendipity's Eclectic Voyager as their Costa Rica Best Vacation.

This is your trip with your departure dates. We do not add you to a set itinerary, combine you with other people, or suggest that other people join your trip.

We created the sample itinerary to show you how many great things you can do in only 10 days and what it would cost. What you decide to do on your Costa Rica vacation with Serendipity can include anything, or everything (plus more!) we have illustrated here.

This (SAMPLE) itinerary includes:

  • All hotels -high three star or four star (best available within reasonable distance of the adventures). We design your travels with you, so if you have a special hotel request, we can include it.
  • All meals, snacks, and interesting things we encounter en route - fruits you pick from trees, fish you catch, home made candies or home made beer. We are expert with dietary requirements like Kosher or vegan -- and the opposite extreme as well.
  • Serendipity's strong 4x4 adventure vehicle -- no rigid schedules, no cramped bus. Our vehicles give you access to places closed to tourists.
  • Completely private adventures in places you sometimes simply can't reach without our 4x4's or our amazing guides - from a remote river on horseback or camping on a riverbank to tree top lunch, or finding turtles on a deserted beach, or a frog farm on a dirt road. Even popular tours like canopy zip lines are private for Serendipity guests - not traveling while bunched with 30 people is a real treat.
  • Serendipity's amazing support, before and during your travels - paddle jackets to keep you warm, helmets with sun visors on the river, well equipped first aid kits, communication equipment, comfort items like clean towels, sunscreen lotion and bug spray for your convenience. Just arrive here with your essentials - we have all the extras.
  • The key to your enjoyment is your Serendipity leader, who is with you throughout the expedition, always pushing you to try something new, challenge you physically, or mentally, or both.

Remember that this is your trip with your departure date, your private activities. We do not add you to a set itinerary, combine you with other people, or suggest that other people join your trip.

To better understand the logistics of "group size" and to give you a rough idea of what a custom private vacation with Serendipity will cost, here's what the 10 day Eclectic Voyager itinerary would cost per person for the following size groups and room sharing, in peak and non-peak seasons. We accommodate larger groups by adding guides and vehicles and equipment as needed, which gives you great flexibility in designing a trip with different action for different people in your group. The important thing to remember is that everything we do, from rafting to horseback to canopy zip lines -- is private for you. No lines, no buses, no compromising how hard you want to push, or how softly.

Serendipity's balloons over rain forest in San Carlos

Serendipity's balloons kiss the treetops over the ancient primary forest in San Carlos, not far from Arenal Volcano. The balloons fly only near sunrise, when the animals are awakening and the air is tranquil

OPTIONAL BALLOONING

A sunrise activity you can enjoy in the Arenal area before the activities listed in the sample itinerary. Sunrise is the best time for ballooning, and for rainforest animals to greet the day from the treetops. Serendipity's hot air balloon flies low over treetops, dips low over rivers and lakes, flies within shouting distance of passing farm workers and small villages.

The hotels we've selected for this trip would be classified as high 3 star. In each location we've selected the hotel which provides the best service, and is most central to the activities. This reduces the time spent getting places, and allows more time away from tourist centers. Hotels are remote from road traffic, with gardens and trails and intrinsic natural beauty. If you prefer other accommodations, we are pleased to use them, with a price adjustment.

To reduce Costs....

Since each Serendipity itinerary is custom designed, we can reduce costs by leaving you for a part of your travel time on your own - at some beaches, where there is good infrastructure so you can get about and to restaurants on your own. We still make all arrangements for hotels and transportation, and are available to discuss local tours.
